Artistic community in Zakopane was
shaped early in the turn of XIX and XX centuries in the period of
modernism (known as the Young Poland in polish art history), taking
inspiration mostly from the local nature and highlander folklore.
Those inspirations persist even today, giving Zakopane's contemporary
art an unique quality. Despite their roots in tradition, modern
artists are open to new trends and directions in the world of art.
Thanks to that, they are vividly present in both fields of polish and
world culture. Many of them run their own galleries, where you can
see and buy their creations. Since artists are free spirits, their
galleries are usually open on demand. Feel free to give them a call!
There are countless workshops and art
huts of folk artists in Zakopane. You can admire painting, glass
painting, sculptures, tailoring, metalworks or embroidery in such
places. Most workshops owners need consulting before opening for
visitors..
In august, during European Display of
Regional Products and International Highlander Folklore Festival you
can appreciate and buy artistic creations.
