Active since 2010, Złote Kierpce (Golden Moccasins) festival
functions as a review for Carpathian Folk Child Band Festival in
Rabka-Zdrój eliminations. Winners will also perform in August at
International Festival of Highland Folklore in Zakopane, during
Little Highlanders Concert, presenting their artistic skills and
programs on Festival Village outdoor scene.
The main goal is to spread children folklore and old village
tradition with dance, singing and highlander music. Also, introduce
and encourage kids and youth to their original culture, creating
opportunity for performance and competition.
This is somehow a preparation for bigger acts on International
Festival of Highland Folklore in Zakopane. Two age groups divide
children and youth regional bands, presenting highlander folklore.
During evaluation, jury pays attention to spectacle theme,
performance quality and dance selection, highlander folk
characteristics, singing, music, band squad, intstruments, proper
outfits, props, hair dressing – dialect adjustments towards the
theme and overall impression.
20-25 minute performances of every submitted group are available for
public during Złote Kierpce Festival. Children present folk games
and plays, while youth usually commit to pastoral, courtship and
ritual themes. Every band perform under traditional music
accompaniment, and the whole event is preceded by parade on Krupówki
promenade.
