Cool-tural Independence Square

We invite you to Independent Square of Culture, a creative space co-created by Zakopane and young artists. We prepared a new type of area in our Town, with such distinctive activities as: art and culture, information, sports, entertainment and relaxation.

For centuries Zakopane is a town of culture, although every age brings something different, nowadays it still springs with life on every season. World-class artists, actors, celebrities and youtubers live here or visit this place regularly, but most of all the sensation-seeking types, culturally-oriented and directed towards unique and vivid folklore of Podhale. Thanks to its uniqueness, contemporary Zakopane is also a place where new ideas set off, as Witkacy wrote: "... For fragile, Zakopane is almost as deadly as meeting a demonic woman. For genuine Spirit Titans... it's where their essence is condensated, the horizons spread, and the art, society and science create new forms, build new axioms... ". And for those tough and young spirits we created this extraordinary spot. 

You will find confortable sunbeds here, for relaxation and reading books from our collection. Your kids can draw pictures and participate in various activities like street art, tailoring and comic book workshops or art performances. Aside from intellectual pleasures, physical effort is as much important, so we invite you for skateboarding workshops as well.

Of course, you can't miss our group reading and bookcrossing activities, so come and listen, read, give away and take books. Additionally, on august we host Zakopane Literary Festival and Book Markets here, and during holiday – evening outdoor cinema.

 Independent Square of Culture is a pleasant place, located in very center of Zakopane, right near Krupówki street. Come, enjoy your time and have a rest. If your want to have a hot drink, always remember that life's too short to drink bad coffee . Also, refreshing lemonade is available. By buying those beverages, you support our artists.
