12H Slalom Marahon is a cyclic event, organized by Town of Zakopane with collaboration with its main initiator, Małgorzata Tlałka-Długosz, a chairman of HANDICAP Foundation. The main goal of this charity competition is to beat Polish Record in 12-hour team ski slalom marathon non-stop. A team of 30 professional ski riders take part in this trial. Since 2017, President Andrzej Duda is a honorable patron, and team captain of this event.
The charity feature of this event is a support for HANDICAP Foundation activities, which engages disabled people for sports and competition in our region. Every kilometer increases the financial support from sponsors for handicap sports cause.
The 12-hours non-stop formula is certainly a very difficult challenge for sportsmen. The hardest parts during the trial are snowy weather conditions, deteriorating slalom track, exhaustion and other elements confronted by ski “sprinters”. However, charity aspect summons best ski runners in Poland, who are always brave until the end despite the struggle.
The event is annual, organized during Ski Jump FIS World Cup weekend in Zakopane.
